The Rila Monastery is situated in Bulgaria, close to Bansko, the biggest moutain resort in Bulgaria. I would like to tell you that Bansko is very well organized, with tens of ski slopesthat can be accesses by cable. They are building a lot there, tens of hotels and many apartments for sale. So if you need accomodation in Bansko Bulgaria, you can find very easy. We satyed at a family hotel with indoor pool, jacuzzi, internet connection, saunaand we payed 21 euros/room with breakfast included. Hard to believe right?
The Rila Monastery is one of the most important monuments of the bulgarians, very old and its included in the international turism catalogs.
From Rila you can take short trips in the mountains to altitudes untill 2.800m.
The paintings are fantastic i think they are restored because the colours are incredibly live.
